Your NEIU/UPI negotiating team met with the administrative team on Dec. 17. We were introduced to Kyle Johansen of Franczek Radelet who was hired by the administration to serve as their lead negotiator. A series of meeting dates and times through March 2010 were confirmed. We requested that the administration release the salary increases (e.g., promotion, excellence awards) that were due in 2009. Our next meeting with the administrative team is January 5, 2010.

As part of the transition from IBB (interest based bargaining), there are some changes in our bargaining team. One of those changes is the appointment of a lead negotiator. Jamie Daniel, the IFT Field Service Director assigned to NEIU, will serve as the lead negotiator of our team. For those of you who remember the 2004 negotiations team, John Nadler was a Field Service Director assigned to NEIU and he served as our lead negotiator. Jamie has reviewed the documents generated during IBB sessions and is currently studying our most recent proposal.
Last week, Jamie contacted President Hahs to set up a meeting with the administrative bargaining team and that meeting is scheduled for next Thursday, Dec. 17. At that meeting, we will set up a calendar for meeting dates so that our negotiations can continue. Following the meeting, I will send an update to the UPI listserv.
