AFT post secondary scholarship for dependents of union members

Porter Scholarships

The AFT’s Robert G. Porter Scholars Program offers four four-year, $8,000 postsecondary scholarships to students who are dependents of AFT members, as well as 10 one-time $1,000 grants to AFT members to assist with their continuing education. Applications, which must be postmarked by March 31, are available online. Ads about the program that communicators can use in their publications are posted on LeaderNet under the “Other AFT Ads (Print)” section.

Union scholarships for 2011 high school grads

CFL Scholarship Deadline is March 1

The Chicago Federation of Labor is offering the annual William A. Lee Memorial Scholarship Award to 10 graduating high school students who are children of union members. Five academic-based scholarships and five random-drawing scholarships in the amount of $2,000 each will be awarded. Application deadline is March 1.
